Hello, welcome, please sit. You look great.
Go Home, Stay Home was born to document my life after university, more importantly my summer travels. Family, as long as these post’s are reasonably regular you can assume I am alive and kickin’ it.
I’d never really thought of writing a blog before now despite numerous comments from friends and family before. Must be my tendency to get myself into awkward situations, tell long-winded tales or spurt out random facts. One friend, a bottle of wine at a BYO in said “you’re full of great tips, you should write a blog!!”, I Laughed. But here we are now and I for the life of me cannot remember that tip. Go Home, Stay Home was dreamed up while sorting carrots one afternoon (further explanation to how my life ended up here in a post) where I decided to document my travels the right way, here, not the wrong way, haphazard Facebook group. Once this incredible adventure is over I’ll be returning to New Zealand and finding my feet in the social and cultural hub of NZ, Wellington (take note CHCH). It’s lonely planet’s coolest capital in the world, so should be a great place to begin “yo-pro” life.
Why Go Home, Stay Home?
Well for me I love that it evokes memories.
Whenever you’re travelling, near or far, despite the incredible experiences most yearn for a bit of home whether it’s your own bed or family, Mum’s cooking and friends. Then, when you are home nothing beats that feeling of walking in the front door after a long day’s work. Oh and I loved the game go home stay home as a kid, so much better than sardines.
Along with a love for travel my love is also divvied up between architecture (hello renovated villas), design, baking and puns. If you’re lucky these may feature too, but who know’s what the future may hold – that’s exciting.
Where am I now?
You’ve missed me, I’ve missed you but I’m back. It’s 2016 and I’ve been slowly and involuntarily hanging up my travelling belt (for now). For my new year new I have ventured into the world of quitting sugar with my great friend Michaela and this space is being reborn to hold us accountable for our actions. Sit back, relax and enjoy.
