It’s business time!

My uncle always flies business class. He swears by it, it’s his one treat for the labours he puts into the Farm. When I said one day I hoped to indulge in a business class fare and have the means to back it, little did I know my dreams would be granted so soon.
Thanks to an ‘I shouldn’t be telling you this’ over sharing agent at the Emirates desk I was informed, that I was marked for a business class upgrade due to the number of travellers aboard despite of my dress, (excuse moi you implying my Nike-esque exercise get up wasn’t all class? ). They usually unmark those not semi well dressed but I was nice so he kept it there – what a champ. My heart had already skipped a beat at hearing this… Though my hopes so weren’t high at all… Much. Until, dah da daaah my name was called just before boarding and I received this:

It was such an honour I’ll probably frame it next to my degree.

Before you ask and assume I’m a horrible/awful friend for leaving Laura in cattle class, a) it’s still a class b) I did ask and since she was already aboard so couldn’t be moved c) I did feel a little bad as she was wedged between an obese woman (like had to have armrest raised) and a hard place, the woman even had the curtesy to spill her water in Laura’s lap. What a lass,
no wonder Laura needed all those G&Ts to get through the flight.

Please excuse the horrendous quality of the following images. They’re mainly intended to prove it happened, make you a little jealous and open the channels for vicarious living.

“Welcome madam, would you like something to drink? Moët et Chandon? Juice? Wine list?”
“Thank you, Moët please” I’m all manners and that’s Moët pronounced correctly, ‘Mo’wett’- look it up. It went down a treat.

Next things next, I got settled in browsing the extensive movies list and fiddling around with the mini screen that controlled all the gadgets. Oh, what’s this a massage function. Like being at the mall but better because you’re flying, not covered in sweat inducing PVC and it’s business class.

Look at all that leg room.

We departed Sydney, who looks stunning by night I might add.

I watched a soppy movie on the big screen before having my table laid for dinner. Insert white table settling, cuffed napkin and cutlery, gluten free meals and lactose free butter- delicious!
A starter of warm nuts was optional but I felt it was necessary as I was in a ‘yes’ mood.

First course: salad, with lovely olive oil and balsamic dressings.

Main course: Fish with delicious vegetables.

Dessert: Gf chocolate cake that was moist and didn’t taste like cardboard and a selection of fruits.

All delivered with a Madam, from now on this is how I’d like to be addressed for all formalities, Merci.
After all this I was well and truly ready to lie horizontal and catch up on some beauty sleep, so I obligingly stepped aside to let the hostess lay a mattress over my inclined chair. So comfy. After Applying hand cream and moisturiser curtesy of Bvlgar, and sipping on peppermint tea to send me into slumber. I woke 6 hours later from possibly the best airborne sleep of my life, the eye mask and noise cancelling headphones probably helped.

Post fanfare Laura and I were reunited and set off to meet Ryan, the addition to our Bangkok travels and condo days. We have a condo in Bangkok kindly lent to us from one of Laura’s friends making settling in and our 3am arrival all the more bearable- cha Ching! Despite all the wining and dining aboard, a trip to the 7/11 for our first feast was necessary.

To capture the true magic of the experience fork out and go business.

And I’ll see you there because I’m a convert/snob now!
I’ll keep you posted on where our Bangkok adventures take us, our first stop was Siam Square and we left poor Ryan behind.

Love it! But think how painful that next cattle class flight will be now that you know what you’re missing – ignorance can be bliss!! Xxx
